There are several questions facing Milan regarding the summer. It seems that another reset could be on the cards with another big sacrifice seemingly becoming more likely. However, there is then the bigger issue of the coach.
For the third summer in a row, the Rossoneri could be heading into the mercato without a definite coach for the first game of the season. Of course, Allegri should be here. However, he could very well head to be the Azzurri’s new coach.
Allegri’s replacement conundrum
It is a question which opens several more and it would remove a lot of the stability that has been built this season. However, it could be used as an opportunity to make another statement in Italian football.
For Calciomercato.com, Antonio Vitiello went through the candidates and chose one who must replace Allegri if he departs.
“It’s like you start building a house, but after a year a different owner comes and turns everything upside down. And so you start again every time.
“Milan is changing too much and needs continuity. Next year it will be more likely to win with Allegri in the second year rather than with a new coach in the first. Also because there are no valid alternatives, perhaps except one.
“Italiano is interesting, but this year he didn’t do exceptional things at Bologna: and then Milan is something else. Mancini has given the best, for a long time now. Palladino is another young emerging, but he would need time.
“The only intriguing name could be that of Simone Inzaghi, which would divide the Rossoneri people a lot. But it would guarantee continuity of the module, the 3-5-2, interpreting it however with a more proactive approach than Allegri. In Italy he already has experience at high levels and has already won.
“I repeat. Forward with Allegri, but if the roads separate then Inzaghi could be the best replacement.”
