Longoni suggests that former Inter coach would be the ‘only’ replacement for Allegri: “The best”

This summer, AC Milan may have to part with Massimiliano Allegri if he decides to take a role with the Italian national team. So, who would replace him.

There are several questions facing Milan regarding the summer. It seems that another reset could be on the cards with another big sacrifice seemingly becoming more likely. However, there is then the bigger issue of the coach.

For the third summer in a row, the Rossoneri could be heading into the mercato without a definite coach for the first game of the season. Of course, Allegri should be here. However, he could very well head to be the Azzurri’s new coach.

Allegri’s replacement conundrum

It is a question which opens several more and it would remove a lot of the stability that has been built this season. However, it could be used as an opportunity to make another statement in Italian football.

For Calciomercato.com, Antonio Vitiello went through the candidates and chose one who must replace Allegri if he departs.

“It’s like you start building a house, but after a year a different owner comes and turns everything upside down. And so you start again every time.

“Milan is changing too much and needs continuity. Next year it will be more likely to win with Allegri in the second year rather than with a new coach in the first. Also because there are no valid alternatives, perhaps except one.

“Italiano is interesting, but this year he didn’t do exceptional things at Bologna: and then Milan is something else. Mancini has given the best, for a long time now. Palladino is another young emerging, but he would need time.

“The only intriguing name could be that of Simone Inzaghi, which would divide the Rossoneri people a lot. But it would guarantee continuity of the module, the 3-5-2, interpreting it however with a more proactive approach than Allegri. In Italy he already has experience at high levels and has already won.

“I repeat. Forward with Allegri, but if the roads separate then Inzaghi could be the best replacement.”

  1. The good thing about Inzaghi is that he also uses a 3-5-2/3-4-2-1, so should Allegri leaves (I’m not saying that I want Allegri to leave) he can take over from him without us having to revamp the entire squad yet again.
Now he would need a deep squad with many players (which will sadden Maldini’s heir) and we should hope that if he becomes our coach, that we will never have to play against PSG.

    1. Never been a fan of the 3-5-2 formation but I absolutely understand why he is mentioned as a candidate as we simply can’t afford to start from scratch each season. Otherwise revamping the squad will be necessary and players will also have to get adjusted to a new style of play.
Allegri wasn’t my choice but I nevertheless hope he stays or that someone continues his work in the event he leaves.
Consistency and coherency and well tailored teams wins you trophies not an annual revolution.

  2. I would welcome Simone Inzaghi with open arms if Allegri leaves for the Italian NT. To be honest I agree here that he would be the best coach to replace Allegri.

I am not sold on italiano and Milan need a winner. Simone Inzaghi has proven that he knows to play attacking football while remaining solid at the back and if given the right players he will win.

He also has a great relationship with Tare who believed in him at Lazio and gave his first big opportunity.

Simone Inzaghi would do better than Allegri and I am not worried about the CL loss against PSG. Inter have an old squad that needed investment and they were beaten by a far better team.

It happens in life. But my vote would definitely be Simone Inzaghi

  3. No that’s Absurd Acmilan need a Good structure, Inzaghi is not the perfect coach is better we bring in Vincenzo Italiano is better and Acmilan are not Good at Two striker 3-5-2
Now look at what we are suffering our problem is coach and formation imagine since we loose Stefano Pioli our problem started and we have wrong players we need to sell some players sign quality players especially the attacking midfielders we are lacking too much in that area.

  4. BRING BACK FONSECA!!!
    BRING BACK TIJANI R!
    BRING BACK T ABRAHAM!
That team understands attack and score more goals…
