Mbappe once again admits to being a ‘Milan fan’ and sends message to Berlusconi’s family

Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe has once again proclaimed himself to be a fan of AC Milan, joking about how it is ‘hard’ to speak well of rivals Inter.

Mbappe was spotted on video earlier this year stating that he would only join Milan if he were to move to Italy, while he has previously been photographed as a young child wearing a Rossoneri shirt from the 2010-11 season.

Now, the France international has given an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport and he was asked about his future at PSG given the rumours circulating that he could leave the club this summer and move to Real Madrid.

“I’ve just confirmed that I don’t want to activate the clause to stay for one more season. I’ve never discussed a contract extension with PSG. But I am happy to stay here next season,” he said.

Then the France international was asked about the Champions League final between Inter and Manchester City on Saturday night, which saw the Premier League side win 1-0 thanks to Rodri’s goal in a closer encounter than many expected.

“As a Milan fan, it’s hard to speak well of Inter, but they prepared the game well, causing trouble for Man City,” said Mbappé.

“It was decided on details. Unfortunately, that’s how football is. Inter must be satisfied with their performance, but congratulations to City.

“Shame for the Italians, but it was nice for Italian Football. Fiorentina and Roma also prove you can do well without the same budget as PSG, Man City or other European clubs.

“That’s how you sign quality players. I’ve been following Serie A since I am a kid. Surely Ronaldo has brought more visibility to a very tactical league, where the general level has risen.

“Everyone wants to win the Champions League, but you always need maximum commitment or you’ll find a team that reminds you that things must be taken for granted.

“Not many thought Inter could reach the final; on the contrary, they nearly won it. One has to work well to be better than the others.”

Mbappe sent a message to Silvio Berlusconi’s family too, after the recent passing of the former Milan owner and president.

“My condolences go to his family. It’s a big loss for football, he was the historic President of the Milan side that made me dream as a kid. I hope fans will honour him as he deserves.”
