Mediaset: Allegri to Milan claims unfounded – Fonseca announcement planned

AC Milan are expected to announce Paulo Fonseca as their new head coach next week, a report claims, while the rumours about a late attempt for Max Allegri are unfounded.

According to what is being reported by SportMediaset (via MilanNews), in just a few more days Milan will officially have their new coach because the official announcement of Fonseca’s arrival is expected next week.

Lille confirmed his farewell in a statement they put out yesterday and this was followed by a message from the coach himself, who reflected on his two years with Les Dogues. Fonseca will sign a two-year contract with Milan, worth just shy of €3m net per season.

The source adds that the past few hours, the rumours about a possible return to Milan for Allegri have also circulated, but this indiscretion has not been confirmed. The Diavolo have made his choice for the post-Pioli era, going full speed ahead with Fonseca.

The Allegri clarification is in reference to a tweet from journalist Edoardo Mecca and a story from Rai Sport, who claimed that Milan have been in contact with Allegri to explore the idea of a possible return.

The 56-year-old coach is able to take on a new job after agreeing a mutual contract termination with Juventus, and Mecca stated that he is very much interested in going back to Milan. However, these claims seem to be baseless.
