This season has been woeful. On the pitch, players have often been disappointing. However, things go beyond those on the pitch. There, until now, has been no structure for the future, and the managerial picture has seemed like a conveyor belt, rather than a project.
As a result of the failings – which the management have begun to admit to – change will happen, and the model may be restructured.
Frustrations have only grown with Milan prioritising the numbers in the accounts, rather than those on the Serie A table, due to the implementation of price-capped spending. However, this seems to have caught up with the club.
As Calcio e Finanza write, the accounts are in the red for this season, for the first time in two years, and the expectation is that the losses will stand at around €25 million. The reasoning for which has not been fully revealed, however, it seems to be due to ‘increasing costs and declining revenues’.
Things could change with the season ‘ending’ on June 30, so the mercato will have an effect, probably. However, it is definitely not a good sign if the books are balanced by sacrifices.
