GdS: Milan forced to adapt without Theo Hernandez – Pioli’s solutions to cover his absence

AC Milan will be without Theo Hernandez for the next couple of games in all probability which forces Stefano Pioli to adapt, a report claims.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) the medical exams confirmed Theo’s muscle problem to be a slight strain meaning he will most likely miss the game against Empoli after the break and is in strong doubt also for the trip to London to face Chelsea in the Champions League.

Theo Hernandez is – along with Mike Maignan and Rafael Leao – the only truly irreplaceable player in the current Milan squad, also due to a physical condition that has generally always ensured that he is available to play.

There is no shortage of alternatives on paper, starting with the natural replacement Fodè Ballo-Tourè, but he has not had the best of times at Milan thus far since his arrival from Monaco last summer.

Alessandro Florenzi was played at left-back last season to give Theo a rest but he is injured, so the other solutions could be adaptations such as captain Davide Calabria or newcomer Sergino Dest migrating to the left. That would see Pierre Kalulu move to right-back, then Simon Kjaer, Matteo Gabbia or Malick Thiaw could play centre-back.
