AC Milan have received some good news regarding Christian Pulisic, who will leave the United States national team camp and return to Italy after being released.

Pulisic started and got an assist during the USA’s first friendly of the break against Panama, a 2-0 win, and it was expected that he would be a part of the side that plays Mexico in Guadalajara in the early hours of Wednesday morning (European time).

As a result, his presence against Udinese was in doubt given he would land back in Italy 48 hours before the game on Saturday evening and would have one light training session to try and shake off the inevitable jet lag, but there will be no such worries.

Mauricio Pochettino has done Milan a favour by releasing Pulisic early, a tweet from their official account confirmed. It means Pulisic will not be taking part in the Mexico game and instead can return back to Milanello, rest up a bit and then begin preparing for the next league game.

Pochettino had suggested in a press conference that the former Chelsea man is playing too much and therefore his workload would be managed.

“A great player, fantastic player, a player that is going to help now and in the future to put the team in a place that we want. He’s a fantastic player, one of the best offensive players in the world,” he said.

“He’s playing every single game, every single minute, something that we are a little bit worried about. Sometimes we need to protect, because he arrived a little bit tired.

“But that’s something I’ve spoken about before, to be in a very good relationship with the club. When we really need him, he needs to be in form, happy, strong, because he has enormous talent, he’s a fantastic player.”
