MN: End product only part of Brahim Diaz’s requirements but an improvement in form is needed

One of the most important positions in Stefano Pioli’s 4-2-3-1 system is the attacking midfielder, and Brahim Diaz is top of the list when it comes to interpreters of that role, but he is not in the best of form.

On Sunday night the priority target for Milan is to respond after the draw against Udinese last Saturday during which the team put in one of their worst away performances in a while, while the second is obviously to win and the third is to recover players who are struggling for form such as Brahim Diaz, Theo Hernandez and Franck Kessie among others.

MilanNews writes that Pioli’s first request to Brahim Diaz is not to consistently score but more to perform the function of being the glue and the link between the midfield and the attack. The Spaniard has always been capable of dynamic dribbles and exciting movements, but with the absences of the likes of Rebic, Leao and Giroud, Milan need more from him.

In 18 games across Serie A and the Champions League, the No.10 has scored 4 goals and has added 4 assists, proving to be a very important man for Milan’s game. However, he has not scored in over two months now (his last goal was against Spezia on September 25) and he has 2 assists in his last 9 games. A turnaround in form is needed, to show that he is fully over Covid and can contribute regularly.
