In recent minutes, AC Milan have confirmed the hiring of Ruben Amorim as the club’s new head coach, replacing Massimiliano Allegri.
It has been a long few weeks to get a manager appointed, but Milan have eventually got their man in Amorim. Indeed, the Portuguese coach is now heading to Serie A after a disappointing spell with Manchester United.

However, there are plenty of reasons to have optimism for the future. Indeed, he was seen as the right candidate by five parties and the final confirmation came from Markus Krösche during the interview process.
Amorim appointed
Now, with a deal officially signed on Tuesday, the club have announced the arrival of the Portuguese on their website, with the following statement.
“AC Milan announces that it has entrusted the technical guidance of the men’s first team to Rúben Amorim.
“Amorim began his coaching career in 2018, after completing his career as a professional footballer, during which he wore the shirts of Belenenses and Benfica, as well as that of the Portugal national team.
“After initial stints at Casa Pia and Braga, in 2020 he took over Sporting CP, initiating a period characterized by a strong playing identity, innovation, and player development. This journey has translated into tangible results: two Portuguese Championship titles, two League Cups, and a Super Cup. Before joining AC Milan, he served as manager of Manchester United.
“Throughout his career, Amorim has developed a modern and offensive tactical approach, supported by a solid game plan, demonstrating a particular ability to develop young talents and guide them on their growth path.
“We’ve been following Rúben for years. His journey at Sporting has been extraordinary and perfectly matches the style of play we’re looking for. He’s one of the most talented and innovative coaches of the new European generation: young, ambitious, with a clear footballing identity and a well-defined tactical approach ,” said Gerry Cardinale , Managing Partner of RedBird Capital Partners. “Rúben believes in attacking, high-intensity football. His philosophy fits perfectly with our vision, and his leadership qualities, combined with his ability to develop players, have impressed us deeply. We believe in him and are thrilled to welcome him to the Club . “
“There are ambitions that stay with you throughout your career, and for me, coaching AC Milan has always been one of them ,” said Rúben Amorim. “I know perfectly well what this club represents: history, prestige, and an extraordinary fan base around the world. It’s a challenge I face with pride and enthusiasm, fully aware of what these colours mean. I can’t wait to get started and experience the passion that drives AC Milan every day.”
It is worth noting that the manager has signed a two year deal with the option of a third worth €3.2 million per season, with a Scudetto bonus included in the contract. Welcome to San Siro, Ruben!

Even though I’m somewhat skeptical I wish him all the best and that he becomes a huge success for many years to come.
Can anyone tell me if he had any public spats like for example the one that happened with his compatriot Conceicao and Calabria. I don’t mind a strict coach but I don’t want to witness hotheaded unprofessional stuff like that again from either coaches or players as they should at the very minimum stay professional and keep it private.
I don’t remember seeing something like this for him but again I don’t follow Manchester United that closely.
Now, he did soft quit in a press conference and was subsequently relieved from his duties.

I sorta recall that as well and if my memory serves me right it was something about him being a manager and not a coach or something.
“I came here to be the manager of Manchester United, not to be the coach of Manchester United. And that is clear. I know that my name is not Tuchel, is not Conte, is not Mourinho. But I’m the manager of Manchester United and it’s going to be like this, for 18 months or when the board decided to change. So that was my point. I want to finish with that. I’m not going to quit, I will do my job, until another guy is coming here to…”
And he didn’t look sad when he was sacked.
😀 Didn’t remember the last part and yeah that is basically saying that his days would be numbered. Not the smartest comment unless he actually wanted to be sacked as that comment of his could have been detrimental in how he would be percieved by the players and fans.

There was a clip of him walking in an alley of some sorts shorty or a day after being sacked and he geniuly looked like a happy man, for me at least.
I don’t watch EVERY Manchester Utd game and I’m not in their forums or blogs, but that doesn’t mean I don’t stumble upon informations like these. Plus I do have friends and collegues that do follow Manchester United.
What was he suppose to do in the alley, curl up in a ball and start weeping to look sad to you? He is a man. Would you walk around moping for days if you lose your job?
I’m very skeptical and I don’t see this as a good move.
But the fact is, he is now our coach, so good luck and I hope it turns for the best.
Just assure me that he doesn’t employ a 3-5-2 structure and I’ll view that as a great start.😀
I’d wish him spectacular failure (because that would mean failure for the other two clowns), but he proved at United he doesn’t need me to, it comes naturally to him.
Not a fan of him or his methods. I watch enough Man Utd games as my bro is a fan of them. That being said, he’s with us now, officially so want to wish him the best of luck. Could be a blessing in disguise seeing as his past results are stacked so heavy against him, the only way is up for him 😁
Who are they trying to psyche up by giving a career historical background of him? Definitely not me.
Milan should more patiently with amorim appointment. Maybe he need squad overhaul and fit with his game style…
