AC Milan need to get to work planning for 2026-27 after last season’s collapse, but the issue is there are no directors in place to do so.
As La Gazzetta dello Sport report, it feels like a lot of what happens with the management depends on whether Ralf Rangnick accepts a role as the technical director. If he does, then he will be the one picking the sporting director and the head coach.

Five names in the frame
Until then, names are being floated around, although some are more recurring and more credible. For example, that of Ramon Planes, currently the sporting director of Al-Ittihad. His resume includes Espanyol, Tottenham, Elche, Rayo, Getafe and especially Barcelona (2018-19).
When he worked for the Blaugrana, he practically closed the €80m purchase of Lautaro Martinez from Inter. Covid halted the deal, which led to a collapse in revenue. Speaking of Barça, Milan also like Txiki Begiristain, already the Catalans’ transfer market man from 2003 to 2010.
Other potential candidates include Viktor Bezhani, current sporting director of Toulouse. This would be almost an internal promotion given that RedBird are the ones pulling the strings of the French club.
Another possibility leads to Manu Fajardo, sporting director of Real Betis since 2024. Discussions have reportedly already taken place. Likewise, the profile of Jorge Rodriguez of Villarreal is also attractive, having built a squad that got them a third-placed finish.
