AC Milan managed to get past Monza via the method of a penalty shootout to claim the Silvio Berlusconi Trophy last night, and there was a rather intriguing passage of play.

As our writer Rohit analysed, there was a classic pressing style of play on display. Malick Thiaw won the ball high up in Monza’s half and without wasting any time, a quick 1-2 with Tijjani Reijnders put Rafael Leão through on goal.
He did not take the golden chance, but it was something the Rossoneri were not able to do last season as much. The quick ball movement gave little to no time to Monza to get back into their defensive positions and the spaces were wide open.
If Milan can keep doing this then it would make us very lethal and have a better chance of breaking down deep blocks, something they have struggled to do for some time.
