AC Milan managed to get past Monza via the method of a penalty shootout to claim the Silvio Berlusconi Trophy last night, and there was a rather intriguing passage of play.
As our writer Rohit analysed, there was a classic pressing style of play on display. Malick Thiaw won the ball high up in Monza’s half and without wasting any time, a quick 1-2 with Tijjani Reijnders put Rafael Leão through on goal.
He did not take the golden chance, but it was something the Rossoneri were not able to do last season as much. The quick ball movement gave little to no time to Monza to get back into their defensive positions and the spaces were wide open.
If Milan can keep doing this then it would make us very lethal and have a better chance of breaking down deep blocks, something they have struggled to do for some time.

I think we got a lot of diversity and unpredictability in our bag now. Espiecally with the new offensive signings
Would have bewn a goal if Leao passed the ball inward to Giroud.
Still a lot of kinks to work out but the future looks bright. I think with time are midfield will only look and function better.
FORZA MILAN ⚫️🔴
These type of blind analysis and analyst are our second threat after pioli.
When the team plays bad with no tactics, game plan and an unknown character we must have courage to say that. Otherwise its just blind worship. Sempre milan authors must show courage to criticize pioli and his approach.
Agreed 100%. Call a spade a spade. Pioli is a crap coach. The Milan players know it.
Aiight Inter fan
Great passing sequence, including the last pass from Leao to the Monza GK.
New season, same ol’ Leao.
