Di Marzio: Milan and Leao ‘continuing to work’ on renewal in ‘climate of serenity’

Gianluca Di Marzio has once again given a reassuring update on the talks over the renewal of Rafael Leao’s contract between the player’s entourage and the management.

The future of Leao continues to attract speculation in the media with a wide range of reports about how far along the negotiations are over a possible contract extension given that his current deal expires in June 2024.

There was even a brief war of words in the media when an article from La Gazzetta dello Sport suggested there had been a breakdown in talks between Milan and Leao, which caused the club to officially respond and deny the ‘damaging’ rumours, before Leao’s lawyer Ted Dimvula provided further reassurance.

Di Marzio spoke to Sky about the future of Leao and the negotiations with Milan for the renewal if his deal, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.

“Between Milan and Leao there is a climate of serenity. The negotiations are going on, they are continuing to work to reach an agreement. It’s certainly not a matter of hours, but things are proceeding in great serenity,” he said.
