Goretzka’s name emerged as a target a few weeks ago, given that his contract with Bayern Munich expires at the end of the season meaning he would be available on a free transfer. He brings experience at the highest level, as well as technical ability and tactical versatility.

Milan pushing for Goretzka

According to today’s edition of Tuttosport (via Radio Rossonera), Goretzka is the name that Allegri likes the most in terms of potential options to strengthen the midfield, which already has the likes of Luka Modric, Adrien Rabiot, Youssouf Fofana, Ardon Jashari, Samuele Ricci and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

After that internal meeting between the management, Milan intensified contact with the agency that handles Goretzka’s attorney to further explore the feasibility of the deal, which would be a free transfer, but could also be a financially large operation.

In the coming weeks, Milan will continue discussions with Goretzka’s agents. He is also on the wish lists of other clubs, both Italian and foreign, but has shown initial signs of openness to Milan.

Above all, the main news is that the management want to listen to and accommodate Allegri in most of his suggestions and requests, given that the squad for next season will need to be expanded – both in terms of numbers and quality – ahead of a return to European competitons.

On the other hand, it will be necessary to see whether other foreign clubs will make more generous offers to the Bayern Munich midfielder, but even in this case, timing can make a difference.
