AC Milan head coach Massimiliano Allegri wants an experienced midfielder, and the leading name is Leon Goretzka.
Goretzka’s name emerged as a target a few weeks ago, given that his contract with Bayern Munich expires at the end of the season meaning he would be available on a free transfer. He brings experience at the highest level, as well as technical ability and tactical versatility.

Milan pushing for Goretzka
According to today’s edition of Tuttosport (via Radio Rossonera), Goretzka is the name that Allegri likes the most in terms of potential options to strengthen the midfield, which already has the likes of Luka Modric, Adrien Rabiot, Youssouf Fofana, Ardon Jashari, Samuele Ricci and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
After that internal meeting between the management, Milan intensified contact with the agency that handles Goretzka’s attorney to further explore the feasibility of the deal, which would be a free transfer, but could also be a financially large operation.
In the coming weeks, Milan will continue discussions with Goretzka’s agents. He is also on the wish lists of other clubs, both Italian and foreign, but has shown initial signs of openness to Milan.
Above all, the main news is that the management want to listen to and accommodate Allegri in most of his suggestions and requests, given that the squad for next season will need to be expanded – both in terms of numbers and quality – ahead of a return to European competitons.
On the other hand, it will be necessary to see whether other foreign clubs will make more generous offers to the Bayern Munich midfielder, but even in this case, timing can make a difference.

Its possible that RLC (back to PL) and Fofana (to Galatasaray) will be sold this summer. And arguably Modric will leave on his own accord either retire or play a swansong back in his homeland.
So thats 3 mf spots looking to fill. Comotto is an exciting youngster for one of those , but we’d need at least one or two 1st team ready signings. Goretzka fits the bill perfectly as a hard working no.8
I wouldnt be sure about Modric. But what i can say is that next season, between UCL, Coppa and Serie A, Luka wont be playing every game. I could be wrong, this season i thought he wasnt going to play every game as he is 40. But he did.
selling Fofana is dumb… it took time adjusting but his recent games have been solid
RLC can be used as supporting striker and make Nkunku sale plausible. RLC with reduced wages being 5th choice is ok for me….
Fofa is one of the most inconsistent players on this team.
Allegri does not agree with you. And one thing that has been proven without a doubt this season…Milan are better with him IN the team.
Give Allegri who he is asking for. Adding Goretzka to the midfield will add quality to what Milan already has.
Goretzka is a great player indeed especially with the culture Ac Milan is known of .l wish the move materialize .
We are love the idea the Allegri wants to add options in our Midfield.
