DSports: Milan make offer to Verratti with Boca Juniors also interested – the latest

AC Milan are one of the teams that has made an offer to Marco Verratti regarding a potential January move, a report from Argentine claims.

In truth, the midfield is not a department where much – if any – movement is expected in the winter mercato. Milan have Luka Modric, Adrien Rabiot and Youssouf Fofana as the starting three, plus Samuele Ricci, Ardon Jashari and Ruben Loftus-Cheek as capable back-ups.

However, there has been some speculation that Loftus-Cheek is of interest to Lazio and that their sale of Matteo Guendouzi to Fenerbahce for over €20m could see them make an offer. If he were to depart, a replacement could be looked into.

Milan in for Marco Verratti?

After leaving Paris Saint-Germain, Verratti moved to Qatar, where he has been playing for Al Duhail since last summer. However, according to Argentine outlet DSports (via Calciomercato.com), the former Italy international has ended up in the sights of clubs in Europe and South America.

Boca Juniors have had contacts with the midfielder ahead of the Copa Libertadores, but the Xeneizes will first have to free up one of the six slots reserved for foreign players as four are already occupied. So, they cannot make an instant move for the ex-Pescara man.

Commenting on Boca’s interest on DSports Radio, journalist Fernando Czyz revealed that so far only  Milan have made an offer for Verratti, though nothing is definitive. Now, we must wait to see if sources closer to the club confirm the indiscretion.

  1. No idea how good he is any longer but if he is still a good player sure why not. I can understand why it might be tempting to play for Boca Juniors as well but I would find it absolutely ridiculous if he doesn’t join Milan if the club comes calling as he has not even played one single Serie A match in his entire career.

  2. This is actually smart if they agreed or are in talks with Lazio over Loftus Cheek. I would take him right now, still quallity back up for this/next season to give Modric rest here and there.
Still we are in big need of CB

  3. Funny how so many people are saying that Milan should sign Verratti, a player they haven’t seen play football a second over the last 3 years because he plays who knows where, a player who Milan doesn’t need even a little bit, but when there were rumors that Milan is interested in signing Mitrovic, they were saying that he is finished, plays football in a weak league and gave up on his career for money. Interesting.
Milan doesn’t need Verratti. Not to mention that that dude is more injury prone than Bennacer.
