We are now in early June and AC Milan are still trying to rebuild their management after last week’s mass sacking.
It is expected to be a crucial week in terms of meetings with prospective candidates for the technical director and head coach role, with Ralf Rangnick and Oliver Glasner targeted above all for the respective roles.

A summit with Jaissle
Fabrizio Romano – in a video posted on his YouTube channel – says the Rossoneri will meet in person with Glasner this week. However, they will also meet with another coach they are interested in speaking to: Matthias Jaissle of Al-Ahli, a Rangnick disciple.
“Tomorrow , Oliver Glasner and Milan will meet. Not in Milan, not in Italy, not even in Austria. The meeting will be abroad,” he said (via MilanNews).
“There will be this first face-to-face meeting, this first interview, between Oliver Glasner and the Milan management to see if there’s a connection, to see if he could be the right man, to see, on both sides, if there’s a spark. There will be this direct contact.
“Another coach I can tell you will meet with Milan and their representatives this week – not tomorrow, later on – will be Matthias Jaissle, coach of Al-Ahli. Another coach from the team linked to Ralf Rangnick. We’re reporting: there will be these meetings with the Milan management.
“Then we’ll have to figure out who will be chosen, what will happen with Rangnick, and what path Milan wants to take. Whether to follow the path linked to Rangnick and the coaches he likes, or follow another path.
“We have to follow a direction for Milan’s future, but I can tell you that not only Glassle but also Matthias Jaissle will meet with Milan.
“While Glasner is free and there’s no need to talk to any club, if Glasner accepts, everything will be fine in five minutes. With Matthias Jaissle, there’s Al-Ahli, which isn’t an easy club.
“It’s a big club in Saudi Arabia, with whom Jaissle won the Asian Champions League twice: he’s done a very important job and is one of the most highly regarded young coaches internationally.
“Negotiations with Al-Ahli would have to be made for him, and from what I’ve been told, Al-Ahli wouldn’t make life easy in terms of compensation and indemnity if Milan were to choose Jaissle.”
As a head coach, Jaissle has won six major titles, split evenly between Red Bull Salzburg (two league titles and a domestic cup) and Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli SFC (two Asian Champions League titles and the Saudi Super Cup).
Does make me wonder which management figures they’re supposedly meeting with…
Who will I be working with, what does my role entail, what powers do I have, what help can I expect… none of these are questions with answers at the moment. Unless there’s more firmed up at management level than they’re letting on.
I think for both Glasner & Jaissle, the implicit is that they will arrive if Rangnick arrive. These meetings are more or less just to find the best person for the job between those two.
If Rangnick doesn’t come, then they they will turn their heads to Arne Slot.
At this point I’m hoping for the Rangnick for no other reason than that will signal that Ibra’s role is diminished.
If nothing else Rangnick has a clear vision and plan and either of those coaches have shown they can get results.
We’ve seen what Ibra can do…..8th place and 5th place. Time to try something else Gerry.
