Despite all of the uncertainty surrounding AC Milan’s Champions League fate and the management, they are apparently closing in on a double deal.
According to Corriere dello Sport, the internal chaos at Milan can be expressed through various parameters. One of these is the transfer market, which has been a bone of contention in recent months between the staff and the upper management.

A concrete example: despite not knowing who will be the coach next season, despite not knowing which competition the team will participate in, despite having sufficient stories that Igli Tare will no longer be the sporting director, two signings have practically already been made.
Furthermore, these aren’t just any two players. Indeed, they would very likely be useful to both Massimiliano Allegri and his potential successor. With or without the Champions League, Milan are already trying to strengthen its position.
Goretzka and Mateta close
The first name is one that the Rossoneri have been targeting for months: Leon Goretzka. The German, as is well known, will not renew his contract with Bayern Munich which expires in just over a month. So, he is already free to reach an agreement with another club without consulting the Bavarians.
His entourage have had contacts and meetings with various clubs across Europe and the world from the Premier League to Saudi Arabia and even the MLS. Yet, it’s from Italy that the most interesting offers have come: Inter, Juventus and Napoli came forward, but Milan will most likely win.
The Rossoneri have offered Goretzka what he wanted: a three-year contract worth €5m net per season, plus bonuses tied to personal and team success. The German is intrigued by the idea of joining Milan, even if missing out on the Champions League makes it a little less appealing.
However, the basic agreement is already in place. Barring any unforeseen circumstances or complications – which are always possible until the deal is officially announced – Goretzka will be a new Milan player.
Meanwhile, Crystal Palace’s French striker Jean-Philippe Mateta was practically already a Milan player, but further medical checks conducted in January advised the Rossoneri not to continue. Now, everything seems to be back on track, especially regarding the player’s knee health.
The CEO Giorgio Furlani – who was the leader and main architect of the deal without Tare’s support – has decided to return to the fray. Mateta is back on the pitch and back to scoring goals, so Milan want to focus on him again.
The aim for Furlani, whose own position seems uncertain, is to take advantage of the fact his contract is expiring in 2027 to reduce the transfer fee. As with Goretzka, negotiations for the Frenchman are also at a ‘very advanced stage’.

Pulisic (CHIESA/Nkunku), VLAHOVIC (ICARDI ?, Camarda);
Why the constant fantasy squad posts? You know it’s not Football Manager?
This shouldn’t be fantasy for us if we get that bloody CL spot. I just hope someone there will read this and listen to my squad and transfer proposals (at least in part) because they should really do that for our sake.
Order in the derby chaos: “The League didn’t consider the appeal to the Regional Administrative Court (TAR) for the Bologna-Milan match, confirming the Rossoneri’s political clout…”
by Lorenzo De Angelis
Our colleague Franco Ordine comments on the delicate moment AC Milan is going through in his editorial for MilanNews.it.
During his usual editorial for MilanNews.it , Franco Ordine spoke about the situation of total chaos that is hovering around Milanello, between strained relations (Allegri-Ibrahimovic) and delays in public appearances:
“[…] THE FAMOUS TAR – I remind most people, regarding the political weight of Milan, that when the mayor of Bologna decided to postpone Bologna-Milan due to a snowfall, the League’s board of directors did not examine the appeal to the TAR and at the end of the meeting the president Scaroni commented on the matter as follows: “We bow before the will of the mayor of Bologna!”. Rightly infuriating the Rossoneri fans. Today there are 5 matches to be played, agreed, but it is a further test”.
Matete… please, it will be another flop.

Leo is still our best player… You are all joking!!!
I don’t know where to start… Furlani has decided to return to the fray? I thought he was always in the fray? Mateta (even though I’d prefer Lewandowski or Guirassy) and Goretzka are certainly upgrades but I think management would need to make Tonali/ —Haaland level signings to get this fanbase back on side… Anyway let’s see what happens because I remember hearing Gila was practically a done deal two months ago…
Gila, Goretzka, Mateta would be 55-60M range.
we still need 3 more: Ake, Grimaldo who are 20-25M and the final one will be based on what formation we will go for. but I’m already have mixed feelings about Allegri stay.
I think we can transition nicely from Allegri to Xabi Alonso. these 5 plus Brahim Diaz is all we need.
I’d love Ake + Grimaldo but I don’t think we can continue with Allegri – he’s lost the dressing room. Alonso would be fantastic but a pipe dream at this point imo..
We need 2 NEW strikers + Camarda as a 3rd option.
That’s the thing though. We don’t even know what the management situation will look like next season. Who’s staying? Who’s going? What’s the project? Are we building anything ?
Without having answered any questions how can they identify any targets? For which coach? To play in what formation? This club puts the carriage ahead of the horse every time …
FROM 23 TO 27 IN 3-4 STEPS:
GILA & DODO
+
KIM (TOMORI), AKE (ODOGU), GORETZKA (RLC), GRIMALDO (ESTUPINAN), CHIESA (NKUNKU), VLAHOVIC (LEAO), ICARDI (GIMENEZ)
+
CAMARDA (FULLKRUG)
+
BONDO, ZEROLI/COMOTTO;
Is Matera a wonderful striker let’s check mate it we a need a striker who can bang goals.
A wonderful striker? No. He’s powerful and explosive, but his finishing is erratic. He should be good for 15 goals a season. He would be an excellent signing.
Why is this guy still interfering with the sporting decisons? Why cant we leave that to the sporting director? AC Milan hire a sporting director if he cant do his job in peace?
As long as this banker wont keep his nose out of the sporting decisions we wont be successfull in building a long term team….
Every time there’s a protest against this being, it ends up being promoted or “takes charge” of key future operations. 😂
“Being” being the key word.
So called big names to distract us from failures this is everyday sad professionals can’t square with the fan base Gila too injury prone Gatti is a better idea Mateta “don’t trust his knee but trust it now” (I don’t wanna question my center forwards knee) Guirassy please Goretzka I’d prefer Angelo Stiller instead!
So again we’re targeting players without even knowing how are we gonna play next season ? Suppose we hire a new SD who will hire a new coach who will say he doesn’t need either Goretzka or Mateta ? Who is going to look stup!d here ? And are we gonna do ?
Also (and these are a bit of rhetorical questions) isn’t Furlani supposed to a “pen pusher” according to some posters ? Why is he leading the charge here ? Did he by himself decide that we need those players ? By which competence ?
And what is Tare doing ? Isn’t an operation like this supposed to be his job ? Is he allowing himself to be just ignored and bypassed, or his contract already stipulated stuff like these ?
Btw, this isn’t a diss at the players themselves, but when I see decisions being made like this, after a lot of criticism of mismanagement, I’m not actually reassured about our future.
It’s very clear Furlani has been dealing with some of the transfers personally. Someone here keep saying he’s just a pen pusher *rolls eyes*
We are going to have another jovic and origi situation… This Milan management is truly pathetic… They keep signing players without anyone being sold… Loan moves aren’t permanent exit… I wonder why they even bother having a youth squad when they are just going to keep piling the first team with more dead weights… We are currently playing a 352 formation, meaning we have Leao, pulisic, gimenez, nkunku as strikers… If they sign a new striker without selling anyone then how are our youth players going to get any shot at the first team? Midfield already has Modric, Rabiot, fofana, Jashari, Ricci… Bondo, musah and bennacer are more likely to return
No one in this room seems to know, but I’m sure Milan’s management team knows exactly what they want, whether they can pull it off remains to be seen. Goretzka and Mateta would be a good start.
I think what milan need to do fast is to put their house in order.first the should send fullkrug back, sell nukunku, jimenez, leoa, pulsic, estupinan.then they should sign dango quattara,(brenford),valovic,(juventus),marmoush(man city),mateus fernades(West ham),wan bissaka(West ham),
