AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli is battling a seemingly never-ending cycle of injury problems, the extent of which have been revealed in a report.
A report from Calciomercato.com recalls that Milan that will face Atletico Madrid tonight with five absences: goalkeeper Mike Maignan and Alessandro Plizzari, defenders Davide Calabria and Fikayo Tomori plus Ante Rebic, while there are doubts about Rafael Leao’s condition too and he may not start.
The report adds that Pioli has only once been able to work at Milanello with the entire squad available in the 105 games he has been head coach. The game in question was the 35th matchday of Serie A last season, and the result was an emphatic 3-0 victory over Juventus at the Allianz Stadium.
The injury and selection issues have continued to plague Milan into the new season. Not all are muscle issues it must be said, with some being knocks and others Covid-positive cases, but in the first 17 games across Serie A and the Champions League the numbers are staggering.
Milan have have 2 games without 2 players, 1 games without 4 players, 3 games without 5 players, 2 games without 6 players, 3 games without 7 players, 4 games without 8 players and amazingly 1 game without 9 players. On average, Pioli has had on average more than 5 absences per game from the start of the season to today.
