GdS: Milan make Zaniolo No.1 attacking target – player-plus-cash bid opened talks

AC Milan have Nicolo Zaniolo top of their list of attacking reinforcements heading into the summer window, a report claims.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews), Milan have made Zaniolo their number one target as they look to bolster the attacking options available to head coach Stefano Pioli. The Italian has a contract expiring in 2024 but he is still not close to renewing with the Giallorossi, which gives them a dilemma.

The first offer that was sent to Roma by Milan was €25m plus Alexis Salemaekers as a counterpart, a proposal that was ultimately declined by the capital club.

According to the paper, this was a proposal that had the purpose of starting the negotiation, not so much one aimed at finding an agreement straight away. Zaniolo’s price tag is high but the market is still long, and with the ownership situation resolved they are expected to try again.
