GdS: Milan make Zaniolo No.1 attacking target – player-plus-cash bid opened talks

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have Nicolo Zaniolo top of their list of attacking reinforcements heading into the summer window, a report claims.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews), Milan have made Zaniolo their number one target as they look to bolster the attacking options available to head coach Stefano Pioli. The Italian has a contract expiring in 2024 but he is still not close to renewing with the Giallorossi, which gives them a dilemma.

The first offer that was sent to Roma by Milan was €25m plus Alexis Salemaekers as a counterpart, a proposal that was ultimately declined by the capital club.

According to the paper, this was a proposal that had the purpose of starting the negotiation, not so much one aimed at finding an agreement straight away. Zaniolo’s price tag is high but the market is still long, and with the ownership situation resolved they are expected to try again.

  1. Please don’t do that. The guy had as many red cards as goals this season. Terrible injury history and lots of off-field drama.
Could be a terrific player but they need to straighten him out first.

  2. With the money Roma demands for this guy we can get Noa Lang and CDK from Brugge! We need players in the attack that get double digits of goals or assists this the only double digits he gets are yellow cards!

  3. if they want italian, berardi should be a better option than him.
but then again i think CDK suit the milan project better.

  4. That will be terrible Milan don’t need player like that Salemasker is much better than Zaniolo he just need time to reach his peak. Supporter from Sierra Leone

    1. salad is just merda honestly. Zaniolo is good but his injuries are a big worry. Noa Lang and CDK would be perfect

  5. If this is true, and I trust GdS more than some sources, then it seems absolutely crazy; a talented guy but has hardly played for years – Roma rate him highly which is fine, but the numbers suggested are already crazy high, let alone being a starting point.

  6. Saladmaker is not as flashy, but works a lot in the defence for the team and is rarely injured.

Zaniolo tracks back as little as Leao, maybe less. If he werent Italian there would be no discussion

  7. World class talent, hope they can get him for an ok price. I’d love if we get Dybala for free and he can play at our AMC as we didn’t play with a playmaker anyway, Diaz is more of a second striker with the way he plays than he is a playmaker. We have our attack solved with that + Origi. And Dybala wouldn’t be at Inter which is a big bonus, they will probably try to sell Lautaro and get Dybala to replace as they need money.

  8. cro, agree Dybala would be better. Bio bi bolji sigurno. 😉

Zaniolo is a great talent and has more upside than Belotti or Berardi (if we want to get an italian); but there is NO WAY Zaniolo will be at a good price. He’s young and has great talent so a big price will be required; but he’s a HUGE injury risk. Not worth it IMHO.
