MN: Impressive record comes to an end for Saelemaekers after Spezia defeat

Alexis Saelemaekers has been one of the biggest surprises since his arrival at Milan just over one year ago. He’s a perfect example of the new project and up until yesterday, he was in a great moment.

Prior to the defeat against Spezia last night, as highlighted by MilanNews, the Belgian had played 29 consecutive Serie A games without a defeat. Of course, this was a new record in the three-point era, but it’s a shame that he didn’t get to 30 games.

Saelemaekers missed out on the games against Juventus and Atalanta in January, first due to an injury and then a suspension. His record thus continued but now the spell is over and just like his teammates, a lot of work needs to be done.

Milan will take on Red Star Belgrade mid-week in the Europa League and then Inter at the weekend. The latter game will be absolutely crucial to understand where the Rossoneri currently stand.
