According to MilanNews, Leao is not in the list of players called up for tomorrow afternoon’s match against Atalanta. It is a preventive choice regarding the Portuguese winger, dictated by the fact that he had only done partial training with the rest of the squad today.
He missed the the technical-tactical part of the final training session on the eve of the match and thus the decision has been made for him to stay in Milano, which will also to allow him to still have a few days to be at 100%.
The reality of the situation is that Leao, in the event of a call-up, would only have been available on the bench and Pioli would not have risked him during the match given that the possibility of a relapse of the muscle injury is higher in the immediate aftermath.
The player has medically recovered from the strain, but will aim to start in Wednesday evening’s match against Newcastle. The attack tomorrow will be Christian Pulisic and Samuel Chukwueze flanking Olivier Giroud.
