AC Milan were knocked out of the Coppa Italia last night, failing to get on the scoresheet and eventually losing on an away goal. Despite being one man down for most of the game, they managed to keep a clean sheet.
As highlighted by MilanNews.it, it was the first time that the Rossoneri have left Allianz Stadium without conceding a goal. The venue was inaugurated in 2011 and Milan have struggled ever since to get good results away at Juventus.
Furthermore, prior to yesterday, they had only registered one draw: the 2-2 clash in the Coppa Italia back in 2012. The Rossoneri certainly have Gigio Donnarumma to thank for the clean sheet, as he saved Cristiano Ronaldo’s penalty in the first half.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to advance to the final, but Milan can keep their heads held high after a battling display with just ten men. Had it not been for Ante Rebic’s red card, who knows what would have happened.
