MN: Pioli deserving of top manager status after Milan success – Diaz decision proves it

Stefano Pioli had done a fantastic job with this Milan side, even in the tough periods, and the Champions League is now just three points away. Yet, the manager has received unjustified criticism from several fronts.

As MilanNews highlight, some even suggested that it was over after the poor performances against Sassuolo and Lazio. However, Pioli was able to reinvent the team once again, proving the doubters wrong.

The manager had been criticised for his stubbornness, not changing his ideas often, but then he gave room for Brahim Diaz and moved Hakan Calhanoglu out wide. A stroke of genius, it turned out, as shown in the games against Juventus and Torino.

It was indeed a simple move on paper, but one that changed the dynamics of the team and not only added energy, but also put the opponents in difficulty. Juventus couldn’t keep up and the same can definitely be said about Torino, who suffered a lot.

Pioli, always considered a good manager but never at the top, has shown not only that he’s comfortable at higher levels, but also that he can improve his group. On Sunday, the Champions League saga can officially be put to bet, with Milan in pole position.
