Stefano Pioli will soon be able to welcome Davide Calabria back from injury as his recovery continues to go according to plan, a report claims.
MilanNews writes that about a month and a half after the operation to fix his hernia, Calabria is ready to pick up the pace in order to get back to being on the field with the rest of the squad. He has the added motivation too – not that he needed it – having signed a renewal until 2025 at €2.6m net per season including bonuses.
It is a more than concrete certificate of esteem and trust for the 24-year-old, who is a product of the Rossoneri youth sector and is the longest tenured player in the current squad. Now, the focus is on summer preparations in view of a season that will see Calabria and Milan face the Champions League together for the first time.
The management remain committed to searching for his deputy meanwhile and the favourite at the moment is Diogo Dalot, but Manchester United are not leaving too many doors open. The alternative seems to be Alvaro Odriozola from Real Madrid, and then Serge Aurier of Spurs after him.
