MN: From Thuram to Taremi – the opportunities for Milan to strengthen the attack

It is now well known that AC Milan are in the market for a new centre-forward, and there could be some interesting market opportunities.

With Olivier Giroud as the only fixed point of a department that also features a struggling Divock Origi and an injury prone Zlatan Ibrahimovic, some help for the Frenchman is needed in the summer.

MilanNews have picked out some of the names with contracts expiring in 2023 and 2024 who could therefore become opportunities to bolster the role without a huge financial outlay.

We can pretty much discard Karim Benzema as an option for various reasons, but Roberto Firmino is out of contract in June and it seems the Brazilian striker will finally leave Liverpool in search of a new challenge.

Marcus Thuram is out of contract this coming summer as is Andrea Belotti, while Alexis Sanchez, Moussa Dembele and Edin Dzeko will also be available on free transfers as things stand.

Looking to the 2024 expiries, Harry Kane is the biggest name but seems destined to move to a top club in England who can pay a huge salary. On the other hand, Anthony Martial could leave Manchester United and he might be an option if his salary demands are not too high.

Noah Okafor has 14 months left on his deal and Milan have been linked with the Red Bull Salzburg star, just as Alvaro Morata of Atletico Madrid and Mehdi Taremi of Porto – both expiring in 2024 – have been mentioned as targets.

Looking at Serie A, the names of Duvan Zapata and Luka Jovic also appear, but also Gerard Deulofeu who plied his trade with the Rossoneri during the 2016-17 season.
