As highlighted by MilanNews, he did two things especially well: 1) his movement on and off the ball made him constantly available and 2) he showcased his excellent vision of the game, for example when he played Olivier Giroud in on goal.
He almost got on the scoresheet as well, sending the ball back into the net, but the referee had blown for a could just before. It remains to be seen if he will play from start against Atalanta (perhaps unlikely), but his debut was indeed promising.
