AC Milan will need to see a revised offer arrive for Noah Okafor this summer, if he is to leave the club, it seems.
In pre-season, Okafor has been one of the more surprising names to reignite the spark at Milan. The Swissman seemed destined to leave, but two goals against Liverpool got people questioning if this is really where his future should be heading.

Reports have since stated that the brace will not impact his situation, with the plans remaining to sell him. However, this is exactly where the issue may lie. With a sale only wanted, issues could arrive in the mercato, or better yet, not arrive.
Intentions clear
The stance of the Rossoneri has been made clear in recent weeks; some players should leave this summer. However, it must be done on the correct terms. With Okafor, the situation is a sale or nothing, according to Matteo Moretto, via @Garante_Il on X.
“Will Okafor be Ndoye’s replacement at Bologna? I reiterate what I reported: Milan is continuing to seek a permanent transfer for Okafor. At this moment, Bologna is only offering a loan. As of today, for Milan, it’s either a permanent transfer or nothing.”

If it was Furlani who has no pull or respect he would go on loan with option to buy just to return next year and have the clubs lowball us like they did with all our loan players this summer.

I just googled a few variations of…
“percentage of loans with options that become permanent transfers”
…but couldn’t find an answer. I’d love to know the exact data but I suspect it’s fewer than half. The transfer market is so over-active these days that unless someone really excels to the point where you’re now getting a good deal, why would you commit to the ‘option’ when you can have a look around and see if there is a similar profile available for the next 12 months, or send the player back and ask for a discount (and yes we are as guilty as anyone)?
I think we should dig our heals in with this and accept nothing less than a permanent transfer.
