The rumours of Musah potentially joining the Serie A champions first emerged last week and they exploded quickly, to the extent that it seemed a deal worth €20m+ was already very close to being agreed.

However, as often happens in these kinds of situations, there was a sudden slowdown in things. What filtered – according to Fabrizio Romano – is that the bonus structure could not be agreed upon between the two sides, with more talks needed to resolve things.

Musah to Napoli: The latest from Moretto

Speaking as a guest on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel, the reliable Matteo Moretto took stock of the negotiations between Milan and Napoli for Musah, with his comments coming via MilanNews.

“I want to start with a detail. On Thursday, Napoli’s sporting director [Giovanni Manna] is expected in Milan. They also tell me to talk to Milan about the Yunus Musah situation , but we’ll understand why there could be many other meetings in Milan for other players,” he said.

“However, Napoli are certainly expected in Milan on Thursday. I’ve always told you that the Musah situation wasn’t, and isn’t, over. The clubs still have to discuss the bonus part of the operation, easy and difficult bonuses, the amount, 3, 4.

“It’s an operation that should have been around 25 million euros. We’ll understand if the two clubs will confirm this figure, 25, 26 million euros including bonuses, or if the figure could even be lowered. Evidently there isn’t an agreement between the two clubs yet and they’ll talk about it possibly on Thursday.”
