A world-class striker did not arrive in January, so AC Milan will again look to recruit an elite number nine in a few months time, and the budget could be big.

Jean-Philippe Mateta was seemingly going to be the man for Milan moving forwards. However, issues found in his medical cancelled the deal, and it seems they will not revisit the Crystal Palace man in the future.

With that, perhaps a bigger investment could be made in the summer.

Significant investment on the cards

In fact, as Corriere dello Sport, via MilanNews24, wrote this morning, the cancellation of that deal would suggest that a ‘significant investment’ will be made in the summer. The primary objective for the management is clear, to provide Massimiliano Allegri with the world class striker he has been asking for since he arrived.

There is considerable uncertainty regarding the current options and their futures. So, the area will be looked at regularly in the next few months.

It is worth noting, too, that the Diavolo are not planning to make a sacrifice of either of their stars. Instead, Rafael Leao and Christian Pulisic are deemed unsellable, unless offers too good to refuse arrive, which is always the case.

Indeed, the club aim to build a balanced and lethal attack, and they hope to find the last piece in the summer.
