Official: AC Milan submit Champions League squad – the inclusions and exclusions

AC Milan have made a decision about who has been included and perhaps more importantly excluded from their Champions League squad.

Now that the mercato has closed, the next big thing is working out which players will feature in the Champions League this season, or at least in the opening set of fixtures, and due to registration rules, Milan will have to exclude one player from their squad.

As UEFA rules state, there are 25 slots open for the squads, but eight players must be homegrown, with four of those being trained in the club. Yesterday, a report suggested that the Rossoneri would leave two slots open in their ‘List A’ squad, meaning two spots are open for club-trained players.

Currently, 18 players could fit in the foreign section of the ‘A list’, and there are only 17 slots, meaning a first-team player will be forced to miss out. Below is the official Champions League list of Milan presented to UEFA, as per MilanNews and other sources:

List A

2 Davide Calabria
4 Ismael Bennacer
7 Alvaro Morata
8 Rubén Loftus-Cheek
10 Rafael Leao
11 Christian Pulisic
14 Tijjani Reijnders
16 Mike Maignan
17 Noah Okafor
19 Theo Hernandez
21 Samuel Chukwueze
22 Emerson Royal
23 Fikayo Tomori
24 Alessandro Florenzi
28 Malick Thiaw
29 Youssouf Fofana
31 Strahinja Pavlovic
42 Filippo Terracciano
46 Matteo Gabbia
57 Marco Sportiello
80 Yunus Musah
90 Tammy Abraham

List B

Adam Bakoune, Davide Bartesaghi, Andrea Bozzolan, Francesco Camarda, Andrei Coubis, Hugo Cuenca, Victor Eletu, Mattia Liberali, Vittorio Magni, Mattia Malaspina, Lapo Nava, Dorian Paloschi, Diego Sia, Dariusz Stalmach, Lorenzo Torriani, Chaka Traoré, Kevin Zeroli.

The main headline is the omission of Luka Jovic who scored nine goals across all competitions last season, while Alex Jimenez and Silvano Vos – two stars of Milan Futuro – do not meet the List B requirements as they have not been here for long enough.
