Official: Sporting Judge decides on length of Jovic’s ban after red card

After being entrusted with a starting spot by Stefano Pioli, AC Milan striker Luka Jovic repaid him in the worst way possible by being dismissed five minutes into the second half. Today, it has been revealed how long the Rossoneri will be without his services.

Pioli’s decision to rest several key players – in hindsight – was a poor choice. However, with the amount of games the squad will play in the next few weeks, there can be some understanding behind the decision.

The full-time score makes the decision poor, though, as Milan found themselves at the end of a 4-2 defeat to their Lombardy neighbours. None of the three attackers who were allowed to impress did so – Jovic was at the tail end of this, with his dismissal after striking Monza defender Armando Izzo, which instantly created worries about how long a suspension would be.

MilanNews writes that the Giudice Sportivo have given the Serbian striker a two-game suspension, which they deem a ‘light decision’. It means that Jovic will be absent for the games against Atalanta and Lazio, which creates another selection headache for Pioli, with his forward options limited.
