Discussions about a game in Australia first began to emerge last year, and in the time since, they have only grown louder. From a possibility, it now looks like a concrete possibility with the FIGC giving their approval to things.

A decision is still required from FIFA and UEFA, even as criticism surrounding the possibility is starting to grow more each day. Nevertheless, it does not seem to be off-putting, at least not to the Rossoneri, who are still hoping things are approved.
Ordine’s criticism
Gianni Infantino was present at the Milan headquarters yesterday, where he had meetings with Paolo Scaroni and Giorgio Furlani. Then, he had meetings with Serie A, so the game in Australia could well have been brought up.
Franco Ordine references the talks in his latest editorial for MilanNews, and it is fair to say he was not best pleased.
“FIFA President Gianni Infantino —a well-known Inter Milan fan—returned from Calabria for a tour of Milan, first visiting AC Milan’s headquarters (meetings with Scaroni and Furlani ), then the Serie A League (meetings with Simonelli and De Siervo ), and finally meeting with Inter executives. For once, he began with AC Milan, perhaps to avoid giving credence to his black-and-blue sympathies.
“They also discussed the AC Milan-Como deal, to be played in Australia, and we’ll find out today from the UEFA summit whether or not it will be approved, given that UEFA vice-president Gabriele Gravina, as president of the Italian Football Federation, has given his approval to the deal, which is purely financial and not technical, as Fabregas’s tirade on the subject demonstrates.
“In my opinion, too, the initiative, from a footballing perspective, is a terrible deal. It might be less of a burden because these are two teams not involved in the cups, but that trip there and back could throw their respective dressing rooms into a tailspin for days. If I were Allegri, I’d be hesitant to give my approval.

Why Italians literally created this mess. No new stadiums built for decades, no innovative marketing strategies or really any marketing strategy. Nothing to insensitive investment and fans that demanding they should still be paying 90s prices for tickets while spending like RM.

And yet Lega Serie A/FIGC have been sanctioning the Supercoppa abroad for years now. These organizations are not run by Americans. I appreciate that Americans tend to Americanize many things, but let’s not blame people for things they are not responsible for. Just like Americans aren’t responsible for the decrepit stadiums all over Italy. Italy has been its own mess of a long time.

I’m neither here nor there with a single fixture being played outside of Italy for various reasons (but I do fear it grows to too many and loses identity) . The problem I really have was where was this level of scrutiny and approvals when the Italian Super Cup was played outside of Italy, unless I missed it ofc. Maybe a bag got passed somewhere, Australia needs to get some oil or get with the program lol
