Pellegatti: Kessie’s exit fuelled by ‘willingness of the agent’; Pobega’s future already outlined

Carlo Pellegatti has pinned blame on Franck Kessie’s agent for being behind his inevitable exit, and believes that Tommaso Pobega could return to stay this summer.

We are now just a few months away from Kessie’s contract with the Rossoneri expiring and it is now widely accepted that unless there is a shock twist, the Ivorian’s time with the club will come to an end after half a decade and he will leave in favour of a new opportunity.

A lot of anger has been portioned towards Kessie for seemingly a desire to earn a salary way above what is reasonable for Milan to pay him, but Carlo Pellegatti has told MilanNews that he thinks his agent George Atangana is the man with the ‘willingness’ to cut ties.

“The permanence of Kessie does not depend on Milan. There is a willingness of the agent to leave Milan. I hope he takes us as high as possible, then if they have to go they go,” he said.

“If Milan sign Sanches they would already see him as number ten. Pioli looks for alternative solutions, it means that he could not find the version of Brahim Diaz from the beginning of the season, however, he played with players who were looking for depth.

“Covid and the problems that Diaz had combined with a certain tactical situation leads him to fail. I’m sorry because he is an extraordinary player, whom I am fond of.”

Another midfielder that Milan have under contract that is generating a lot of discussion is Pobega. He has been loaned out to Torino where he has impressed so far this season, after equally useful spells with Pordenone in Serie B and Spezia last season.

“It will be an unknown factor for him to play in the Champions League. I think he will stay at Milan. Bakayoko, never playing, cannot get back in shape,” Pellegatti said.
