Pellegatti gives thoughts on Leao’s renewal: “Milan only have to pay a third of his value”

Journalist Carlo Pellegatti has urged AC Milan to spend what it takes to renew Rafael Leao because it would only cost a fraction of his market value.

There continues to be a lot of speculation surrounding the future of Leao, who was the Serie A MVP last season and drew the interest of Chelsea during the most recent summer window. His deal expires in June 2024 meaning that a renewal must arrive this season or a sale would have to be considered to avoid a free exit the following summer like Gianluigi Donnarumma and Franck Kessie.

Carlo Pellegatti spoke this morning on his YouTube channel (via MilanNews) to talk about the issue linked to the renewal of Leao, and he believes that the financial side of the deal makes a lot of sense for the Milan management even if it would require the commitment to a substantial investment.

“The investment to keep Leao must be high but any investment Milan make right now, 7 or 8 million euros for four years, is about 40 million in total, also considering the Growth Decree. If Leao’s value is 120 million, Milan only have to pay for a third of his value, 40 million,” he said.
