According to Carlo Pellegatti’s editorial for MilanNews, the directors are aiming to ‘strengthen the team by mid-July’ because if the majority of business were done after that it ‘would be a problem for Pioli’s work’ given that he wants most of preseason to get new additions up to speed.

A playmaker is one of the targets and there are ‘only two names’ in play at the moment: Charles De Ketelaere of Club Brugge and the ‘hope’ of signing Paulo Dybala.

The second reinforcement will be for the right wing, with Marco Asensio and Hakim Ziyech in pole position. The third fundamental signing is that of a central defender, given that a ‘fifth reinforcement is needed’ to join Fikayo Tomori, Pierre Kalulu, Simon Kjaer and Matteo Gabbia, who could be ‘young or old’.
