Pellegatti: Milan want new signings in before mid-July – three areas chosen to reinforce

By Oliver Fisher -

The Milan management are working to get some reinforcements across the line in the next couple of weeks after Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara have renewed.

According to Carlo Pellegatti’s editorial for MilanNews, the directors are aiming to ‘strengthen the team by mid-July’ because if the majority of business were done after that it ‘would be a problem for Pioli’s work’ given that he wants most of preseason to get new additions up to speed.

A playmaker is one of the targets and there are ‘only two names’ in play at the moment: Charles De Ketelaere of Club Brugge and the ‘hope’ of signing Paulo Dybala.

The second reinforcement will be for the right wing, with Marco Asensio and Hakim Ziyech in pole position. The third fundamental signing is that of a central defender, given that a ‘fifth reinforcement is needed’ to join Fikayo Tomori, Pierre Kalulu, Simon Kjaer and Matteo Gabbia, who could be ‘young or old’.

  1. CDK + ziyech enough for new season . But need to persuade chelsea to accept loan with obligation formula and reduce ziyech salary to 5m euro nett

    1. Why would you pay 25M for anyone with half a leg? He was injured more than Dybala for the last 3 seasons. Asensio is the way to go as he looks 100% recovered from his major injury, Ziyech not really.

  2. CDK and Berardi IMO. You get consistency with goals and assists and a captain in the attack with Berardi. Then you get the young kid who has all star potential at AM in CDK. If we don’t get CDK I say we go for Dybala and not Ziyech, I’d also rather Asensio if it’s between Ziyech and Asensio. Younger, less injury prone.
