Photo: Average positions reveal Milan’s true formation in 2-0 win against Juve

Prior to Milan’s win against Juventus, there was a lot of discussion regarding the starting XI as Stefano Pili opted to field Ismael Bennacer, Sandro Tonali and Tommaso Pobega from start. An answer has now arrived.

Many suggested that Milan would play with a 4-3-3, while some argued that this was still a 4-2-3-1 formation with a Kessie-esque solution. Based on the average positions, as provided by Gazzetta Dello Sport (see photo below), it was a 4-3-3.

Of course, the positions were quite fluid throughout the game and Milan almost never plays with set positions in that sense.
