Many suggested that Milan would play with a 4-3-3, while some argued that this was still a 4-2-3-1 formation with a Kessie-esque solution. Based on the average positions, as provided by Gazzetta Dello Sport (see photo below), it was a 4-3-3.
Of course, the positions were quite fluid throughout the game and Milan almost never plays with set positions in that sense.
