AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli explained some of his selection choices just before kick-off in tonight’s game against Inter.

“The week we had doesn’t count: we prepared well for the match. What counts is starting the match well and playing it carefully and lucidly throughout the match.”
On tactical changes: “Our numbers in previous matches aren’t good in terms of goals conceded, so we’ll have more density. But we’ll have to be able to offer attacking play and situations.”
On Leao’s exclusion: “I chose to play with two close strikers and for these characteristics I think Origi and Giroud’s characteristics are better. Rafa will be very useful in the current match.”
