This morning’s edition of il Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews) reports how it will be up to Giroud again to lead Milan’s attack against Empoli in tonight’s game at San Siro and in all likelihood he will make way for Ibrahimovic in the second half.
However, the paper claims that Pioli could also think of a different tactical idea which envisages the simultaneous deployment of the two strikers. So far the coach has used the Giroud-Ibrahimovic pairing only in emergencies, but it cannot be ruled out that he uses both of them together from minute one before the end of the season.
In games where Milan encounter a low block and they find it hard to create chances, having the option to go more direct may well help.
