Pioli says Milan must ‘concentrate on the next match’ against Juventus after Chelsea loss

AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli has said that the Rossoneri must turn their attention towards the Juventus game on Saturday after analysing the Chelsea defeat.

Speaking after the 3-0 defeat against the Blues at Stamford Bridge to Milan TV (via Milan News), Pioli showed that the fixture leaves little room for teams to dwell on disappointing defeats as he said they must now concentrate on the Juventus match.

“We’ll have to analyse this match with Chelsea well and understand why we didn’t come out with certain situations that are within our reach.

“Now we will have to concentrate on the next match that is very important for our season, we will know how to face it.”

Milan put in a very poor display against Chelsea and they did not deserve to get anything from the game. Pioli did not hide away from the fact that far too many mistakes were made.

“We did little despite not starting the match badly. We made too many mistakes, we conceded too much space to our opponents. Then the match became difficult.”

He also lamented the fact that the Diavolo were not aggressive enough at certain points in the match, saying: “There were situations where we could have been more aggressive. I think we didn’t dribble well tonight and there were chances to do so.

“Chelsea’s pressure was not so strong and continuous. We looked for depth when there wasn’t any, when you look for depth too much you end up stretching yourself so much and that didn’t allow us to be a compact team in both phases.”

He was also asked if he may consider a switch to a three-man defence in order to combat the injury issues and he said: “Right now we have less rotation, especially on the right flank, so it’s up to us to try something else. It seemed like the right time to do it, then we’ll see in the future.”
