The rivalry between Milan and Inter will never disappear, but it’s clear that it has been fueled over the last few years by the success of both teams. Furthermore, Hakan Calhanoglu’s decision to join the Nerazzurri has added to that.
The Turkish international has aimed several digs at Milan since he left the club on a free transfer for the city rivals. It’s something that has annoyed his former teammates and Pioli used that to his advantage ahead of the derby.
As was confirmed during his post-match presser, relayed by MilanNews, the manager hung a photo of Calhanoglu with the quote ‘We have fire inside’, which the Inter man used last weekend, in the locker room at Milanello.
“It’s one of the most important tasks for a coach. Sometimes I use something of my own, other times of others: the important thing is to have a group that thinks about it, reflects, worries and then is ready to give its best,” he stated.
