Milan were forced into a change midway through the first half as Pobega went down with what looked like a muscle injury which meant he could not continue, and Jan-Carlo Simic came on to replace him, scoring a goal in his Serie A debut.

Okafor came off the bench to score the third goal but he wouldn’t have long to enjoy it as he pulled up with what looked like a hamstring injury, forcing him off with Samuel Chukwueze coming on in his place.

After the game, Pioli was asked about the condition of both the midfielder and the forward, with his comments to Sky relayed by MilanNews.

“Pobega seems to have a hip problem, while Okafor maybe a fatigue cramp, let’s see; Noah has just recovered from an injury to his other leg and we hope it’s nothing too serious,” he said.

Milan will certainly hope that neither have a length absence given that Yunus Musah was ruled out the day before and was replaced by Pobega, while Okafor added a third goal to his tally.
