GdS: Potentially decisive meeting over Leao’s future imminent – the position of both sides

The AC Milan management are continuing to work on the renewal of Rafael Leao and they have a very important meeting on the agenda, a report claims.

According to this morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (as seen below), Milan will hold a new meeting with the entourage of the Portuguese forward within 10 days or a maximum of 15, hoping to make substantial progress after what has been a long and drawn out saga.

The feeling is that in the next meeting everything will be defined in one way or another but there is a certain optimism that filters from Milan’s side regarding the positive conclusion of the negotiation.

If it were entirely up to Leao though he would have probably already signed by now, however there are a number of different players at the table including lawyer Ted Dimvula and agent Jorge Mendes, who could look to ‘seek fortune somewhere else’.

Milan are now in a hurry and therefore a conclusion should be reached within the next two weeks. Either Leao will renew or he will be sold in the summer, though for now no concrete offers have arrived.

The €16m fine owed to Sporting CP is hanging over the entire negotiation as Leao wants some help from Milan in paying it plus a €7m net salary and a signing bonus, while the Rossoneri are offering a slightly lower salary with other bonuses linked to personal and team targets, but without participating in the payment of the fine.
