AC Milan had to withstand large periods of pressure against Como on Thursday night, but struck when it counted to claim a big win.
The home side dominated large stretches of the match and took the lead when Marc-Oliver Kempf headed in from a corner. Mike Maignan then produced several world-class saves to deny Nico Paz and Luca Da Cunha, keeping Milan in it.

Just prior to half-time Milan were gifted a route back into the game as Kempf brought Adrien Rabiot down inside the box. Christopher Nkunku converted from 12 yard, then Rabiot scored early in the second half and right at the end to seal a big 3-1 win.

This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) has their ratings. They give the team’s performance a 7 out of 10, the same score as Massimiliano Allegri’s management got, with his in-game changes key again.
Rabiot got an 8 and was the player of the match, while Maignan got a 7.5. Koni De Winter, Nkunku and Leao were praised too, getting scored of 6.5, The rest got 6s barring Fikayo Tomori and the flop Youssouf Fofana, who had to make do with 5.5s.

Corriere dello Sport meanwhile gave Maignan an 8 as well as his compatriot Rabiot. Saelemaekers was the only other player to get above a passing grade (6.5), which says a lot about the paradoxical nature of the performance.
Tomori got a 5.5, Bartesaghi the same, Fofana was given a 5 and Loftus-Cheek a 5.5 off the bench, with everyone else managing to get a 6.
Tuttosport ;argely agree with their colleagues. Maignan got an 8 for his heroics, as did Rabiot. Gabbia and De Winter were praised by the paper though, getting a 6.5, which is also what Saelemaekers, Modric, Leao and Füllkrug were given. Fofana and Bartesaghi (5.5s) struggled.
Finally, the paper give coach Allegri 7.5: “He varies at least four formations: perhaps his football isn’t that simple. He keeps the Scudetto torch alive.”
I Feel Like Alegri saw my last post about changing formations in the momen. That is a sign of adaptability in the moment and is exactly what we need right now to keep things flowing. Especially Leao and the midfield setting. Leao should be able to drift wide atleast after every 10min of the game and formation changes to 433 then back again. when you are seeing presure you switch to the classic Alegri, then when you have abit more stability, 442 then when you are on the hunt, 433. especially agaisnt smaller teams. we should outscore them and not just focus on the 1-0 scorelines that are so risky. id rather win 4-2 then 1-0 against smaller teams.
he’s defensive/conservative as hell. allegri lives by the “defense wins championships” . But he’s more flexible than we give him credit for. (At least this time). Last time was pretty stiff, built around Zlatan. Como isnt easy and a win is a win.
