RedBird add to diverse portfolio with $100m investment in Ben Affleck and Matt Damon

AC Milan’s owners, RedBird Capital, have a very diverse portfolio and this was highlighted once again yesterday. A €100m investment has been made in the cinema and movie industry, partnering with Ben Affleck and Matt Damon.

RedBird have invested in Fenway Sports (Liverpool), AC Milan, New York Yankees’ Yes Network and many other companies over the last years. They recently helped promote Dwayne Johnson’s new movie Black Adam, also making use of Milan’s social channels, as they have been working with the famous actor for a long time.

Gerry Cardinale sees tremendous potential in the movie industry and has decided to make yet another investment in that field. As cited by the New York Times, the Milan owner has partnered up with Ben Affleck and Matt Damon to launch the production company Artists Equity.

“It’s a significant, nine-figure commitment, with the ability to scale over time. You can’t put your toe in the water. You have to commit,” Cardinale said about the investment.

The investment is worth at least $100m, per the report, and RedBird will be looking to use all of its expertise to make money on this project as well. Just like their other investments, though, it’s not something they will be looking to flip overnight.
