AC Milan failed to grab all three points in their game against Udinese earlier this evening, thus giving Inter yet another chance to get back into the lead in the standings. However, it appears the referee and VAR made a mistake tonight.
On Udinese’s equaliser, a check was conducted because of a suspected handball on the Udinese player (Destiny Odugie). The goal stood, though, but has caused some controversy afterwards.
Speaking live on air, as cited by MilanNews, the former referee Luca Marelli couldn’t really believe that VAR didn’t intervene as it looks like a clear handball on the replays.
“There will be a lot of discussion. We have seen it several times and we see that there is a very suspicious movement of Udogie, touching the ball with his left arm. The clear feeling is that he deflected the ball with his left arm: he has it out, and goes towards the ball. The feeling is that the decisive touch is with the left arm. I cannot understand why VAR didn’t intervene,” he stated.
