CM: Milan confident in Renato Sanches race – alternative waits after talks with Moncada

Renato Sanches and Enzo Fernandez are the two names being most concretely linked with Milan for the midfield at the moment, and an update on the situation has arrived.

Calciomercato.com confirm that Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara will sign two-year extensions with an option for a third year and then the Rossoneri’s transfer market will officially begin. The focus is entirely on Renato Sanches for the midfield but PSG’s interest has made things complicated.

Milan are convinced that they are still ahead in the race and have a great chance of being able to close the operation in the next few days. Meanwhile, there is not currently a ‘real strong candidate’ in terms of an alternative target if the Portuguese midfielder does not arrive.

Enzo Fernandez of River Plate is a player the management like a lot and he has spoken directly with chief scout Geoffrey Moncada. The 21-year-old is versatile and talented, and would be thrilled to wear the Rossoneri shirt, but Benfica and Wolverhampton have both decided to pay the €18m release clause. Milan, therefore, must act decisively soon on one front or the other.
