Report: Cardinale and Milan could focus on Sesto as San Siro project would cost €3bn+

AC Milan and Inter have been working on the new stadium project for two years now and little progress, frankly, has been made. Therefore, the Rossoneri’s new owner Gerry Cardinale could focus on another area.

According to Il Sole 24 Ore, as cited by Calciomercato, one of Milan’s advisors on the stadium project has warned the club about the cost of the project. To build a new stadium, and take care of Giuseppe Meazza, the cost would now be over €3bn due to the cost of raw materials and other factors.

In other words, the estimated cost of the operation has tripled since Milan and Inter first set out on this project. As a result of this, RedBird CEO and new Rossoneri owner Cardinale could go all-in for the Sesto Sain Giovanni area.

There, Milan would be able to build a stadium of their own (without Inter) and the costs most likely would be a lot less than San Siro. The hypothesis is gathering more and more steam as time passes and it remains to be seen what will happen.
